Their gukbap and suyuk are AMAZING! Totally recommend. The other soup meals are good, but it was a little too light for my taste. Definitely one of the best broths in Santa Clara though. Make sure to add a good pinch of salt since it comes unseasoned. Though there is Galbi jjim on the menu, you'd rather go to Daeho Galbi Jjim if that's the only thing you want.
Authenticity is overrated, but Kunjip is pretty traditional. They all speak Korean, and most customers are Koreans looking for some good soup. Wonderful servers and top tier kimchi too! They only have kkakddugi, baechu kimchi, and oi sobagi for banchan, but all 3 are defenitely the best kimchi I've had in America.
Comfortable and spacious seating with large tables and cozy lighting. Perfect for pics if that's your thing.

I had eaten at this place and they kicked me out for eating too much food I had gone to this restaurant thinking I would be accepted but I seem to have been mistaken.

Finding parking on weekends can be challenging, and the place gets packed, but I was fortunate to be seated relatively quickly. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the service was prompt - they took my order swiftly, and the food arrived in a timely manner.
While the seating arrangement felt a bit awkward, sharing a table with strangers in a slightly divided space lacked privacy. However, the delectable food more than compensated for the crowded setting.
The Galbi was a highlight - soft, tender, with a hint of sweetness balanced by the rice. The noodles, though not spicy, were bursting with flavor. Their unique chewy texture was made manageable with the thoughtful addition of scissors, making it easy to enjoy every bite.
The portions were more than sufficient for two people, and I found myself too engrossed in the fantastic food to engage in much conversation. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The diverse menu options set it apart from the mainstream choices, adding a refreshing twist to the dining adventure.

We came here in a really good timing. We were able to be seated almost right away.
Food came really fast, portion size was bigger than it looks, the container was so deep. Taste was alright.
We didn't finish the food and take the leftovers to go.
It was quite a packed place though!

A great place for Korean food if you are craving soup or Galbi Jjim! Kunjip can get a bit crowded on the weekends so coming on a weekday or for lunch will have better chances of a shorter wait time. The restaurant has a nice modern interior and is bustling during their busy periods. The ban chan comes with kimchi, sliced cucumbers, and radishes which were all delicious.
Items Ordered:
- Seol Leong Tang ($18): One of their signature dishes that is so simple but so satisfying! The soup comes with noodles and sliced beef and you can season it how you like with the provided salt, pepper, and green onions at the table. It comes in a decent size which you can share with others if you want.
- Galbi Jjim ($75): For a group of 3 this was plenty of food for us and we had leftovers afterwards. I thought it could use a little more flavor but I still found the dish to be very tasty and the meat falls right off the bone. It also has assorted vegetables and rice cakes within the stew as well.
Would come back again! They also offer yakult when they bring the check out too which is a nice touch to end the meal.

Best comfort meal on a cold day or a hangover remedy. I love Kunjip's because it tastes the most authentic compared to all the other Korean restaurants that serve them in South Bay K-Town.
It's a self service for seasonings which is conveniently at every section of the table. Banchan are also simple - just cucumber, kimchi, and radish. The secret to the perfect ratio in my opinion is 2 tsp of salt, couple dashes of pepper, and 3 tsp of green onions.
